I just finished The Lost Constution and Blood Bound the first is a semi historical hunt for a copy for the constution that had notes from the founding fathers before it was finished but was lost before it was finished. The other is a Vanpire store with other mythial beings. Both are very good. Laughing Idea

I'm currently re-reading the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. It's pretty good, especially if you like military-ish sci-fi.

I recently got into Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn); the last of which was just released last weekend. It's a vampire/werewolf story set in contemporary times, written in the first-person perspective of a human girl who gets caught up in the myths that aren't so mythical.

I also picked up an old favorite of mine that I used to read as a kid, Madeline L'engle's A Wrinkle In Time (followed by A Swiftly Tilting Planet, A Wind in the Door, and Many Waters). It is very watered down, meant for a younger audience, but still some good ideas about space travel without ships, called tessering, or a tesseract, being the 4th and 5th dimensions. Simple, but cute.

One of my favorite books, however, is Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. It's what sparked the silent movie, later the musical, and eventually the series of terrible attempts at other movies. Good detective novel, very very dark compared to the musical that most people are familiar with.

I've read that one when I was younger, too. It is a good book.

Well I haven't done much reading lately, although it is one of my favorite hobbies. Here are some of my favorites.

If you like aviation you'll probably like these:
"Basher FIve-Two" by Cpt. Scott O'Grady - This one is the true story of an F-16 pilot who was shot under hostile territory.
"Fly-Off" by Bob Norris
"Under A War Torn Sky" by L.M. Elliot

I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books too:
Yes, I like the Harry Potter Books. (Although I've only read up to Year 4)
I was a fan of the Merlin Series by TA Baron.
I love the HALO Novels and have even enjoyed the Brute Force Novel. I still have to read Crimson Skies.

I also like books about adventures in the wild:
"The Call of the Wild" by Jack London
"Far North" by Will Hobbs
I am a big fan of the Jean Craighead George's books.:
"My Side of the Mountain" ; "On the Far Side of the Mountain" ; and "Frightful's Mountain"

There are also a whole bunch of books I enjoyed as a kid:
"Holes" and "Wayside School Is Falling Down" by Louis Sachar
"Fire Bringer" by David Clement-Davies

I haven't read in a while (like I said earlier, so I don't know what good books are out right now)

Well, Laters.

I have the Malleus Maleficarum (or 'Hexenhammer', or 'The Hammer of witches'. A loved child has many names.) under work at the moment, and a bunch of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels on the side for lighter reading.

Edwinguy if you like historical fiction then you should check out James Rollins. He has a bunch of excellent books that are all along those lines. I'd start with Black Order.

I've just finished re-reading Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series (yes all of them, including Endless Nights, and Dream Hunters, and Murder Mysteries), and am currently reading "Anansi Boys" after having talked my friend into reading (more like devouring) "American Gods".
I heartily recommend anything Gaiman has written to everyone, he's a fantastic author and has some interesting ideas about the world.

Just picked up a bunch of the Doctor Who and Torchwood book. So far it is a 70/30 split between the well written books and the not so well written one, but I am having a blast reading them while I wait for the next series of Torchwood to come out. Very Happy

Ooooh, Gaiman <3 truly knows how to tell a story. I've been a fan of the Sandman comics and Gaiman's novels for quite some time now. I just love the language he uses, thankfully I've managed to find at least most of his works in english in my country.

This is my kind of topic...

I am currently reading the Dresdon Files series by Jim Butcher. Only on the 2nd book of the series, but good so far.

Taking a break from it for a bit to read a book a friend lent to me, Letters From the Earth, by Mark Twain. I am not usually a fan ot Twain, but this book is great so far.

Recommendations:

Black Company: Glen Cook, for you fantasy fans, Cook is a great writer, characters are well developed, you get to know the places and people without a lot of dragging out of the story.

Princess Bride: William Goldman, the story that later became a great movie.

God's Debris: A Thought Experiment: Scott Adams, the writer of Dilbert releases a book the makes the reader think. Its a short book, but definately makes your mind work.

Elantris: Brandon Sanderson, a friend lent me this book. not action filled, but more of a political based book, with plenty going on that keeps you interested. This is the man taking over the Wheel of Time series for Robert Jordan, so I had to read what he had to offer. I hear his Mistborne series is excellent.

Many others, but those are what come to mind as recent reads.

I too enjoyed Harry Potter and Holes, but that was stemmed from the days when I was a teacher (math type), and I read whatever the kids were reading at the time. Both were great. The school I worked at banned Harry Potter, so I had to read it to form my own opinion. I decided they were idiots for banning what the kids would read. I like the story, and the books matured as they progressed.

I own and LOVE this book! The movie-makers did a really good job of sticking very closely to the text with this one, and if you think the movie was amazing, the book is even better Smile

I have bought The Princess Bride 3 or 4 times now. Each time I read it, I ended up giving it away to a friend. Goldman wrote the screen play, so it converted really well, I just wish they would let him do the second book, Buttercup's Baby.

Antoher Dresden fan, I have to say that the Dresden books are very good, and if you ask me, they seem to get better as he progresses.

I really enjoy reading Fantasy and Sci-Fi. Right now, I'm working on Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels. I also love Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. I could go on and on about different authors and series that I enjoy Very Happy
Also, I've read ALL the Star Wars novels, just not the comics for it (yet). Very Happy
