This is a place for the ship's logs and adventures of the Horizon and it's crew, starting with the Horizon III, a cruiser owned and piloted by Captain Peter Evans.

I've been sitting here for the last two hours now, just sitting. What does this thing mean, anyway? When I joined the Serenity fleet, it was mostly a matter of strength of numbers. I flew a little frigate, not all that powerful, just fast enough to keep ahead of the bad guys. But what about now? When I joined I was given the fleet's official seal, a gold and silver coin with the Chinese symbol for serenity on it. It represents something. It stands for something. What do I stand for?
It's been less than two years now since I traded in that old sloop. Less than two years on the frigate Horizon II. Now, the Horizion III sits in space-dock awaiting completion of her retrofit. I purchased her new. She's the first new ship I've ever flown. Brandon, Greg, and Lin are busy loading components and transferring the results of all our research over time. The bridge is being fully automated, but also set for full hands on command, the way I like it. We need more crew now. That's one thing Serenity was good for. A lot less wierdo's came around for a job this time. And I got to access the fleet files on crew, to see if there was any known troublemakers among the bunch. But still -- now that I've got a bigger, faster ship; more powerful guns; what do I need a fleet for anyway?
But I guess that's not the real question that's bothering me. Emmet left me a note today along with his crew recommendations. He said it was time I stood up. I didn't get it at first. I do now. I think that's the reason I'm still awake, really. It's time I stood up -- stood for something. I think that's my real problem. What do I stand for?
Anyway.
The Horizon III will be ready soon. They say one more day and she will be ready for her custom paint job. They just need to know what to put on it.

Today was rather unremarkable. I think that's why it was so good for me. If I had been busy, I never would have had time to stop, think. Reflect. I spent half the day thinking about Dad. There was a man. Taught me to pilot a ship like few others out here. He... I was thinking about back when we first took Emmet on board the Horizon, that old sloop. I didn't want him around. It was like he was stealing my dad from me, but he said, "We're doing it because it's right, and because everyone needs a hand."
And that's why I'm in this fleet. That's why I'm here. Because I'm doing what's right and because everyone needs a hand. I've been spending all my time recently thinking, 'What is this fleet doing for me.' I should have been thinking about what I could give back. Yeah.
Today I sent the painters the instructions for Horizon III's decals: A golden, rising sun over a dark blue lake, the words Horizon III beneath it. And the sun, set with the Serenity symbol. I'm here to stay, because what I'm doing is right, and because everybody needs a hand.
